a look into 1999 Ultimate Newsflash Blog

This old film that was posted on the Ultimate Newsflash blog is pretty neat and worth taking a look at. I think its so funny how Father will get a virtual electronic mail of the bills. this movie was made in the late 60's and depicts how things maybe in the year 1999. they actually did a very good job.

Meet Sandy | 43 Folders

Meet Sandy | 43 Folders
Yea know I could use a gal like her. Sandy is an automated assistant and a lot more attractive than Mr Clippy, I found her in the clasic 43 folders blog and Just hired her..(free of charge) you can kind of say she's on probation. This may be a cool idea and certainly now that I have headed back to email. The premise is You are to let Sandy know your appointments and she will email you reminders I can certainly see this service taking off. this was my correspondence with sandy this far I emailed her to remind me to finish this post.

Butch to Sandy > Remind me to finish your blog post at 2:30 am

Sandy to Butch >Hello, Butch! You asked me to remind you about something -- relax and leave it to me!

Sandy to Butch > Hola, Butch! Psssst! Here's your reminder: #1 2:30am Finish your blog post- email reminder at 2:15am

Now Sandy can also text/sms you to you mobile or send to another email account, Sandy also works with Jott (which i don't use) But she can also send you stuff out on your Twitter very hip this Sandy Gal. Also when I log into her website I can down-load my appointments and put it straight into Kontact Calender. I think this a a great way to set up reminders with a sort of personal touch. She recognizes short commands like remind and remember that you put in your email to her. very cool.

Next week I will publish her evaluation, and let you know how she did. My expectations are: like most things in the organized World, your only going to get out of it what you put into it. But I'll give the gal a break

Blog.gears: An offline Blogger client

This a a pretty cool feature, for those who carry their laptops around. It gives you the ability to create a Blogger posts off-line and then sync up when ever you get some internet access. More on this on the Google Gears api blog
If you want to skip to the back of the book here is a video which will tell you all about it.

Disposable Digital storage ?

Sandisk is now coming out with disposable write once storage, is this changing anything, I dont think so. there are really only two reasons I can see how this will work. For one if your going on vacation and want a back up just in case, and two if you put some music on it and place it in your PDA which no one ever seams to have any more (except on ebey) ... I got this story from Endgaget written by Thomas Ricker

The gOS is out on cd

I'm now running the gOS they finally shrank it down under 700 megs so you can put it on cd, now m not going to spew a lot of blah blah because I just started to use it this morning. I haven't even loaded it into my desk top yet. But my first impression is: This is going to certainly could compete in the mass market, the only trouble I have is when you change the desk top around you can loose your way in the shuffle, if they put a default button for the settings to bring it to the as is in the opening screen that would be great.

you can get it from of course a link in distro watch (excellent linux site)

Google Earth gets weather, new layer layout - Download Squad

Google Earth gets weather, new layer layout - Download Squad
From What I read in the Download Squad submitted by Brad Linder this New layer option will allow you to view the weather updated by both Weather.com and the Naval Research laboratory in Monterey.

If you haven't checked out the new version of Google Earth I would highly recommend it, the Google Sky could keep you busy for hours at a time.

Now you can check out the weather as well ... Nice!

The Helicopter: A Hundred Years of Hovering

The Helicopter: A Hundred Years of Hovering
Wired News put this in their top stories today, The celebration of Frenchman Paul Cornu Helicopter in 1907. My First experience with Helicopters began skimming the tree lines of the jungle at like 180 mph. They really are incredible to ride in. If you have done so already. This article By Robert Lemos, is pretty complete and has great photo's of the evolutions to of the machine into what is todays modern Helicopter.

I am grateful to the trail blazers that risked everything to archive their dreams.

Starting back with Technorati

Yea now you know how young this blog is I have to claim it..In technorati
I have been pushing out html for 9 years and have 5 posts to account for it.
I don't care really it just lets you know what a scatter brain I have become.

Technorati Profile

Winterizing My Soup Cupboard

Yes its freezing already here in Central mass, The other say I was able to stock up on some soup, very important to me because I drink it like coffee during the winter months.

Songza - The music search engine & internet jukebox. Listen. Now.

Songza - The music search engine & internet jukebox. Listen. Now.
I found this on Google reader pretty Neat I did share it in my google shares but Its so neat I thought I would post about it. Skreemr was cool don't get me wrong but this takes streaming song search to another level. The interface is present and the search for the top performer of the song, is at the head of the list.

Now of course you never know what will happen to the future of these sites, with all those litigation hounds out there, but lets not think of that... Just search a song and press play and enjoy yourself for a bit.

Google launches Search mash

I know I am on the Google Kick lately, but then again this entire blog is made out of almost completely Google products. Here is another one that just cam out.

Pretty Nifty if you wish to see different things about an online friend for example. Just type out the name and then on the right you can see photos or video all by the same person. Im in there but don't believe that i am a cat I'm still trying to work out what Google thinks of me.

Don't let the name fool you this is a google product i think they are branching out with different names that can be confusing if you think about it.

The New Blog

Well within the past few months, I have been looking for the BBD the bigger better deal. Now in my case its not a matter of saving money but saving time. As many of us already know time is a very valuable commodity. You can mess around on the net all day long and never get any thing accomplished. Now I may never be a great organizer such as the likes of Merlin Mann, but my time is as valuable to me as it is to anyone else.

I guess the transition all started when I moved back to gmail, with the great Imap infusion into my gmail. I started talking about and paying more attention to Google than ever before. Two weeks ago or was it last week (things are blending) the great rediscovery of the Google Orkut took place on Jaiku and everyone joined or revamped there Orkut page. it was this integration that forced me to rethink my online presence. Yes I got away from blogging, but the real reason I think it was becoming to cumbersome to keep up with the innovations as well as trying out new things offered on the web at the same time; Something had to give, and since I am naturally curious I gather my blog was thrown by the way side.

Then I sorted out and started to move my photos into picasa which will seem to work out nicely with this blog. Then just to go over the top, I downloaded and completely indexed my computer with Google Desk Top, I know pretty scary, but I did it none the less. Lastly I cleaned out my Google reader and started sharing my reads on the web

So in short this is what I did:

  • I stopped hosting my own blog and went with Blogger
  • I moved butchbrooklyn.com and masked it to my blogger
  • I started an orkut page and friended some of my peeps
  • I started posting and tagging my photos in Picassa
  • I completely index my computer with Google Desktop I have no fear.
  • I cleaned up my Google reader and started to share my reads
Well thats the way I see it, Winter is coming and I am going to be online to keep from freezing. I hope my faith in Google doesn't backfire on me. The real success of this blog depends on weather or not I enjoy it or not. Ok Take it easy
